Q&A: Will you be held accountable directly for a accident even though you were working for Amazon?

Q:

Working for amazon over a year ago and was in involved in a accident in which I admitted fault to for using my personal phone for GPS rather than my work phone due to my Dispatch and manager rushing me out of the warehouse. Would amazon payout the lawsuit against me or would I be alone on this.

A:

As an employee and driver  for Amazon, you should be able to invoke Amazon’s insurance to help you defend this claim as long as the accident occurred during your normal scope of work.

There are exceptions to the coverage, however generally if this occurred during your employment and within the scope of work you were employed to do, then they may afford coverage.  We recommend you report this matter to Amazon’s insurance carrier and/or HR for prompt and immediate support.
